One of the lies we believe is “I am what I do!” Pastor Chris brings us this message about the truth of being God’s dearly loved child.

Sermon:  Lies We Believe – Performance Lies
Date: August 4 & 5
Digital bulletin

Scriptures:

Luke 4:1-2 Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry.

Hebrews 4:15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.

Luke 4:3 Then the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread.”

Luke 4:4 But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone.’ ”

Luke 3:21-22  One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened, and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.”

John 1:12-13 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.
